Cercle ends an intense week with nine points after a big win against Charleroi!

Cercle have survived a busy week of football, with three matches in six days, flawlessly. With another big victory, the _Groen-Zwart_ treated its fans to a wonderful evening, sending off Charleroi with a 4-1 win.

On Friday evening, the _Groen-Zwart_ hosted Charleroi in a battle for a place in the top half of the table. The _Carolos_ came into the match one point ahead of Cercle, for whom coach Muslic changed his starting eleven in two places: Daland rejoined the team at the expense of Ravych and Francis got his chance after a few strong appearances. In this way Vanhoutte got some rest.

After a quiet opening phase, there was a trouble from the visitors for the first time. Benbouali successfully turned Daland back and finished neatly between Majecki's legs, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The _Groen-Zwart_ responded via Francis: he shot from distance after he was given some space. Charleroi in turn searched for Benbouali again: this time he was charging at Majecki, but Marcelin stopped the Algerian at the last moment. On the half hour, the _Carolos_ again came closest to a first goal: Nkuba turned the defence and found an unmarked Morioka, but an attentive Marcelin prevented the visitors from the opening goal. It was time to react for Cercle: first, Denkey lashed out with a volley, and not much later Ueda tried to score via a header. On the corner that followed, things came off as Marcelin cleverly headed the ball back to the penalty point, from which Ueda shot on the turn to score the opening goal: 1-0. Two minutes before halftime, the home team was again made to be nervous as referee Visser pointed to the spot for a handball after Popovic got in front of Hosseinzadeh's shot. The crowd went silent but had not counted on Majecki: the Pole dove to the right corner and prevented the equalizer.

After the break, the _Groen-Zwart_ came out of the dressing room sharper and immediately created the necessary opportunities. Yet it was Charleroi that came closest to scoring. Benbouali was too quick for the Cercle defense and picked out Nbuka, but the winger couldn't find the net from close range. From then Cercle was a lot more efficient. With a beautiful backheel, Denkey played in his buddy Ueda in the area, from which the Japanese striker placed the ball perfectly into the corner. Charleroi reacted, but the _Groen-Zwart_ had things under perfect control. That was, until referee Visser was called to the VAR screen. A few minutes earlier, Marcelin had touched the ball with his hand in his own box. A second penalty kick was awarded to the _Carolos_, and this time Heymans didn't miss. However, anyone who thought Charleroi had a comeback in them was wrong. Substitute Gboho quickly got involved, and was there to prod home a rebound from close range, and it wasn't done yet. In stoppage time, Kehrer was also able to take advantage of some slack play from the Charleroi defence. A few days after his disallowed goal on Seraing, the young German was able to open his account with the _Groen-Zwart._ Thus, Cercle have taken nine out of nine points in a busy week, and thanks to four wins from five matches, we are slowly but surely moving up the table.
