Cercle concluded its training week in Venray, the Netherlands, with a friendly match against the Cypriot team AEK Larnaca. A dominant Association won Saturday afternoon with a score of 3-2, thanks to goals from Olaigbe and Somers (2x).

The friendly match against AEK Larnaca, who finished third last season in the Cypriot first division, thus started on a positive note. And you could immediately notice this at the beginning of the match.

Cercle took control of the game but real concrete danger was absent. On the other side, they had to be cautious of the occasionally rough play from the Cypriots, but fortunately, without too much harm.

There were chances for Somers and Augusto, but it was ultimately Olaigbe who broke the deadlock for Green-Black. A clearance from the Cypriot goalkeeper Toumpas was recovered by Van Der Bruggen and then directly sent towards Olaigbe. The youth international beautifully curled his shot into the goal, 1-0 for Cercle.

Cercle was clearly on its way to taking a deserved lead into the break, but just before the halftime whistle, a free kick from Diemers went straight into the goal, 2-1. The first chance immediately resulted in a goal for AEK.

To give everyone sufficient playing time, coach Miron Muslic brought fresh blood onto the field at the start of the second half. Cercle continued its momentum from the first half and quickly extended the score again. A good recovery by newcomer Bayo landed at Vanackere, who in turn found Somers. The Bruges captain took the ball beautifully and shot it out of reach of goalkeeper Toumpas into the goal, 3-1.

Almost immediately after Somers' second goal, Larnaca was able to reduce the deficit again via a rebound from Santos after Delanghe initially made a fine save.

With the introduction of players like Denkey and Malamine, Cercle continued to camp in AEK's half. A good practice match thus ended with a 3-2 victory for Cercle.
