**Cercle Brugge and Italian side Sampdoria have reached an agreement on the immediate transfer of goalkeeper Gaëtan Coucke. The 27-year-old Belgian has signed a three-season contract with the Vereniging, until June 2029.**

Gaëtan Coucke (1.87m) came through the youth ranks at KRC Genk and has since built up considerable experience in Belgian football. After his development at Genk and a spell at Lommel SK, he grew into a key player and regular starter at KV Mechelen. Over four seasons, he made a total of 123 appearances for the club.

In the summer of 2024, he moved to Saudi side Al-Orobah, where he played 32 matches. Since August 2025, Coucke has been with Italian side Sampdoria in Serie B.

The experienced goalkeeper now returns to Belgium and the Jupiler Pro League. “Cercle came forward with a very clear and ambitious project. After speaking with the management and the coaches, I immediately felt that it was the right fit,” **Gaëtan Coucke** said about his choice for Green-Black.

**Technical Director Luciano Murchio** is also pleased with the Belgian goalkeeper’s signature: “Gaëtan is a goalkeeper with a lot of experience in our competition and will add stability, immediate impact and leadership to the squad. That was exactly the profile we were looking for.”

“He is a complete and all-round goalkeeper who fits our style of play,” Murchio added. “We are confident that Gaëtan will help us achieve the objectives we have set for this season.”

### Welcome to the Vereniging, Gaëtan!
