**On matchday 28, Groen-Zwart hosted Antwerp at home. In the first half, Cercle had most of the possession and chances but failed to score. In the second period, Cercle launched wave after wave of attacks but couldn’t find the net. After Ravych’s red card, the match shifted, but Antwerp also failed to score. Groen-Zwart now prepares for the knockout phase of the UEFA Conference League.**

## **Cercle dominates possession in a lackluster first half**

From the start, Groen-Zwart took control, having most of the ball and creating a few minor chances. Nunes—arguably the most active Cercle player in the first half—dribbled into the box and aimed for the far corner, but his shot lacked enough curl.

Cercle continued to dominate possession and nearly took the lead through Minda. After a sharp low cross, the Ecuadorian received the ball on the edge of the box, but his shot went just wide.

Antwerp, missing several key players, was unrecognizable in the first half. Aside from a weak shot by Riedewald, the Great Old created almost nothing.

Van Der Bruggen, returning from suspension after missing the match against his former club KV Kortrijk, had a notable first-half effort, but his shot flew a meter over the bar.

As the half wore on, both teams became increasingly sloppy, misplacing passes and resorting to long balls. Despite Cercle’s possession, the teams went into halftime with a logical 0-0 scoreline.

## **Cercle fails to score and must defend after Ravych’s red card**

Cercle came out strong after the break. For the first 10 to 15 minutes of the second half, Groen-Zwart launched relentless attacks. Minda, one of the key players in this spell, dispossessed Alderweireld and raced toward Lammens, but the Antwerp goalkeeper was alert.

Agyekum appeared to give Cercle the lead when he found the net on the rebound, but the assistant referee and VAR quickly ruled offside. Groen-Zwart kept pushing. Nunes once again broke into the Antwerp box and set up Somers, who finished well, but Alderweireld cleared the ball off the line.

From the resulting corner, Ravych connected with a powerful header, only to see it crash against the post. Substitute Brunner also tried his luck with a long-range effort that narrowly missed.

With 20 minutes left, Kerk suddenly broke free. Ravych sprinted back to challenge him, but according to referee Bert Put, he failed to get the ball—red card for Ravych. Cercle had to finish the match with 10 men.

Sensing an opportunity, Antwerp pushed forward with their numerical advantage, forcing Cercle to defend deep. However, despite camping in Cercle’s half, Antwerp failed to create clear-cut chances. The match ended as it had begun—0-0 after 95 minutes. Now, Groen-Zwart turns its focus to Poland, where they will face Jagiellonia Białystok on Thursday!
