**Cercle suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at Sint-Truiden, allowing the Canaries to take the lead in the standings. With three matchdays remaining in the play-offs, everything is still wide open. "We simply gave away the three goals," admitted Hannes Van Der Bruggen after the match.**

### Hannes Van Der Bruggen: “We should not panic now”

“For the opening goal, STVV relied heavily on the counterattack, and I actually thought our game was decent. We had a few half-chances, but they have some real quality up front.”

“I think we lacked enough movement in attack, which made it difficult to create opportunities,” the midfielder continued. “Our play just wasn’t fluid enough. We started the second half fairly well again, but then we made another mistake that led to their second goal.”

There is no play-off football next weekend, something Van Der Bruggen sees as a positive. “We have enough time to analyse this game properly. I still believe we shouldn’t panic after today’s result.”

“We just need to be sharp in identifying where we can improve. We’ve got two home matches coming up — and those must be won,” he concluded.

### Jimmy De Wulf: “We didn’t do enough in possession”

Cercle coach Jimmy De Wulf also pointed to avoidable goals. “We didn’t do enough in possession today. We played too slowly and didn’t exploit the space well. Ultimately, we fell behind because of our own mistakes.”

Diakité’s goal shortly before the break seemed to breathe new life into the team, but that momentum didn’t carry through into the second half. “After the 2-1, you feel some renewed energy, but we failed to build on it.”

“STVV had the better chances, and then we conceded a third — another goal we should’ve avoided. We must be sharper in those situations, and the group knows that.”

“We’re focused only on ourselves. There’s no point in looking at other teams. Now it’s all about working hard,” said De Wulf.

### Ibrahim Diakité: “An extra week to work hard”

Ibrahim Diakité scored his third goal for Cercle, though he wasn’t in the mood to celebrate. “Honestly, my goal means nothing to me. Our overall performance just wasn’t good enough.”

“Sint-Truiden pressed us well, and we struggled to find solutions. But now we’ve got an extra week to prepare for the return match at home.”

“Playing at home will be a whole different story. We’ll do everything we can to secure the 3 points,” the right-back concluded.
